You just don’t get it. YOU JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND. Life is so serious. The world is dour. Nothing could ever make Rooney Mara smile. Nothing will ever be light and simple and fun. Even when Rooney Mara wears a terrible dress, she will not do it with wit and humor. No, it has to be the most seriously bad dress ever, super-serious and super-dour. Rooney wore this Alexander McQueen gown which, if I’m being honest, photographs a lot better than it moves. When she was in motion on the red carpet, this was easily one of the worst gowns of the Golden Globes. When you see it move, you can get a better idea of how the skirt of this gown looked like ratty toilet paper. I don’t understand why Rooney’s afraid of color – she almost always wears black, white or nude. She would look fantastic in a red or a blue. But then she might actually look like she’s having fun. And we couldn’t have that. No. Never.

Caitriona Balfe also wore Alexander McQueen. To me, this looks like an old-fashioned nightgown and robe ensemble, the kind that Joan Crawford would have worn in 1948. Still, Caitriona seemed to love it and she looked like she was actually enjoying herself, which goes a long way towards me liking the dress. I mean, it IS funny. She’s got tulle puffs on the hem. It’s crazy.

And here’s Amanda Peet in Alexander McQueen. Oh, honey, no. Ruffles on the bodice? NO. I feel like we might need to do an intervention for Amanda.
