According to a report from Page Six, even though Kanye West and Kim Kardashian supposedly spoke with officials from the White House to try and have them pressure Swedish authorities to release A$AP Rocky, Swedish prosecutors state that no one from the White House has spoken to them about the matter.

A source who spoke with the aforementioned outlet said that the US Department of State hasn’t spoken with them at all. The Swedish Prosecution Authority released a statement on Friday in which they claimed they haven’t spoken with officials from the White House.

Moreover, the spokesperson said that even if Donald Trump and the White House try and push them to free A$AP Rocky, there is nothing they can do because the White House doesn’t have any power in Sweden.

The authorities provided the outlet with a book called, The Swedish Judicial System, in it, which describes how the government goes about treating non-citizens who have committed a crime. There may be, however, two situations in which Swedish authorities surrender an individual from another country.

One of which is that the citizen of the non-native country has to serve a sentence in his home country, or has to go back to his native land to face a criminal trial.

US representatives, Adriano Espaillat, Hakeem Jeffries, Joaquin Castro, and André Carson, have all signed a statement in which they reached out to the Swedish authorities. It’s unclear if Swedish authorities actually spoke to them or not, on account of the fact the government doesn’t have to cater to their demands.

The US representatives wrote in their statement that they intend to continue fighting on A$AP Rocky’s behalf, as well as the three other men who, they believe, are wrongly imprisoned.

Another source who spoke with Page Six on Friday said that the White House hasn’t called, and the US State Department did try and get into contact but through the “proper channels.”

Previously, a source claimed Kim and Kanye were trying to get into communications with the president and Jared Kushner. Later on, Kim took to her Twitter to thank Jared and Donald for their “efforts.”
