The royals spent some time out and about this weekend enjoying a night out on the town sans their handsome little one-year-old son, Prince George. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spotted in Great Bircham at the King’s Head Hotel enjoying a two-hour meal. Kate Middleton wore a pair of skinny jeans and a sweater and Prince William donned faded blue jeans and tennis shoes. The couple was out for a romantic, but casual, date night.
They even stopped to chat with a few of the locals that approached them during their night out. However, this is not typically customary for the locals. “We see the royals around, but you don’t acknowledge them, as it were. We just leave them, so they can be like everyone else. It’s just how we are in Norfolk – we leave people alone. They royal family’s been coming here for I don’t know how many years, and I like the fact that they can come and just ‘be’ and do their own thing,” says one local resident.
Anmer Hall is the nearby residence that the Queen of England gifted to the Duke and Duchess about a year ago. This is a royal household that’s been in the royal family for years, and that’s why the people of Norfolk are so used to seeing members of the royal family out and about around the town. Perhaps this is just one of the reasons the royal couple chose to make this their primary residence most of the year; because the locals leave them alone and let them live like locals.
Either way, anything the Duke and Duchess do is considered newsworthy, including enjoying a royal date night not entirely different from the kind of date night the rest of us enjoy on a regular basis, just with a few extra stares and perhaps service that’s a little faster and more impressive.
